MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino personally seized an enforcer for misrepresenting himself as an active personnel of the MMDA traffic force.
Identified as former traffic aide of MMDA, Edwin M. Vicentino was caught by the Chairman on Sunday evening at around 6:30 PM in Buendia flyover in Roxas Blvd. as he was on his way to attend a speaking engagement in Manila. Vicentino flagged down the Chairman’s vehicle without any clear violation. “Mr. Vicentino has not been reporting for duty since November last year. He was officially dropped from the rolls as of May 1, 2012. What he did was both illegal and unethical,” explained the Chairman.
Vicentino was wearing his MMDA enforcer uniform Type “B” and ID during the incident.
“MMDA is very strict regarding these matters and we do not tolerate such behavior from any of our enforcers or employees. Mr. Vicentino, by posing as a figure of authority with malice is tainting the name of our Agency,” he added. MMDA will be filing a formal complaint against Vicentino on usurpation of authority.
Chairman Tolentino also warned the general public to be aware of enforcers who might try to take advantage of them especially this Christmas season. “Please do not hesitate to contact us if you run into any corrupt enforcers on the road. We have our MetroSolusyon website especially for that,” informed Tolentino
MMDA’s MetroSolusyon website was designed to encourage citizen participation in the Agency’s active campaign against corruption. Citizens can log in to metrosolusyon.mmda.gov.ph to report complaints or incidents on any matter involving MMDA employees engaging in corrupt practices. Not only that, they can also report citizens caught bribing our MMDA employees, laud or commend a good deed of any MMDA enforcer, or even suggest concrete solutions to pressing problems in Metro Manila. “MetroSolusyon is our appeal to the public to be a part of the process of making Metro Manila a clean and corrupt-free metropolis,” the Chairman said.
